A valid referral from your optometrist, general practitioner, or another medical specialist is necessary to access Medicare rebates for your visit.
During your appointment
When you arrive, our reception team will assist with check-in. An initial assessment is typically performed by clinical staff, which may include:
Checking your vision and eye pressure
Instilling dilating eye drops to allow a detailed examination of the back of the eye
Taking photographs or scans of your retina or macula (if clinically indicated)
Your ophthalmologist will then carefully review your history and perform a thorough eye examination. If further diagnostic tests are required, they are often completed on the same day. Your doctor will discuss the findings with you and outline the recommended treatment plan.
Note:
Dilating drops can temporarily affect your ability to see clearly and cause light sensitivity. These effects usually last a few hours. Driving is not advised after your appointment. Please arrange for a friend, family member, or alternative transport.

Please remember to bring the following:
A referral letter from your healthcare provider
Your spectacles or contact lenses
